TBID is approaching its once-a-decade reauthorization.

We need district property owners to vote to keep providing the services and events we all rely on,  and move us towards our vision for the district’s future.

TBID plays a vital role in the cleanliness, safety, and overall vitality of the Telegraph Business District. Take action to continue and expand on impactful services such as:

  • Annual removal of 120,000+ pounds of trash, 10,000+ graffiti tags & handbills, and 1,500 hazardous waste incidents.
  • Ambassador program of highly-trained hospitality and crisis de-escalation experts to peacefully resolve street disruptions.
  • Major expansion of public art, public garage upgrades, and new 24/7 public restroom.
  • Powerful digital marketing hub averaging 200,000+ monthly Instagram views to promote local merchants.
  • Unified voice championing historic upzoning, streamlining and expanding parking options, and protecting customer curb access. 

District Property Owners: Take Action to Continue TBID

Phase 1: Petition Drive (October - Dec 2026)
Reauthorization requires property owners to submit signed petitions. Please complete, sign, and return the petition that was mailed to the property owner's address (as recorded by the Alameda County Assessor) by December 14, 2026.

Phase 2: Re-authorization Vote (Spring 2027)
The formal reauthorization vote will take place March - May 2027.  The City of Berkeley will mail ballots to assessed property owners and the vote will conclude with a Public Hearing at City Council. Over the next year, we are committed to hearing your feedback, answering your questions, and earning your support for reauthorization.

Our district is evolving rapidly, shaped by new housing,‌ a growing resident base, and a shared hunger to see‌ Telegraph thrive. ‌

This renewal maintains services while building on our‌ momentum‌. Together, we can honor the legacy of Telegraph, while‌ seizing every opportunity to build a legendary future.‌
